On Wednesday we took the Blue Lagoon Tour, our last tour. This was a handy tour because not only did we get to see a few more sights, we were dropped off at the airport at the end of our tour.
80% of all homes in Iceland get their hot water and heat from geothermal sources. Also, there is a 1 Megawatt + power plant (photos 1 & 2) that gets its energy source from super-heated-steam from bore holes over a mile deep. As a by product of this power plant, a Blue Lagoon was created that lets people swim in the outdoors. We did that!
The first two photos were taken at Grindavik Harbor, which is where fishing boats unload. Not far down the coast was Reykjanes Peninsula, but the views were not very good because of rain and fog.
On our flight home, we flew over Greenland. The photo below is a composite of two pictures I took through the porthole.
